CV, LinkedIn and Interview Coaching: Build One Credible Professional Story
Candidates often treat the CV, LinkedIn profile and interview as separate tasks. Employers do not. They see different versions of the same professional story. Coaching is most useful when those pieces support one another without sounding copied, exaggerated or generic.
Start with evidence, not adjectives
Words such as hardworking, strategic or results-driven are easy to write and difficult to verify. Stronger positioning starts with evidence: what changed because of your work, what scale you handled, which problems you solved and what responsibility you actually owned.
- Projects completed
- Revenue, cost, quality or efficiency improvements where supportable
- Team or stakeholder scope
- Systems, tools and methods used
- Decisions or problems you owned
Make the CV easy to understand quickly
The CV should make your professional direction obvious before a reader reaches the second page. Role titles, dates, scope and achievements need a clear hierarchy. Every bullet does not need to be dramatic; it needs to help the reader understand what you did and why it mattered.
Use LinkedIn to add context, not duplicate the CV
LinkedIn can carry a little more context about your professional direction, industries, strengths and selected projects. The profile should be consistent with the CV but does not need to copy it line by line. The headline and About section should help a reader understand where you fit professionally.
Prepare interview examples before questions arrive
Do not wait for an interviewer to ask a question before deciding which example proves your point. Build a small evidence bank covering delivery, challenge, collaboration, judgment, conflict, learning and leadership where relevant. Then practise adapting those examples to different questions.
Aim for credibility, not perfection
Good coaching does not create a fictional candidate. It improves structure, clarity, communication and confidence while keeping the underlying experience honest. That is more sustainable than trying to sound impressive in every sentence.
Hire.d coaching can help you review the three pieces together and identify the gaps between what you have done and what your current materials communicate.
